Outpouring Of Support For Wounded Police Dog Bruno

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The home of an Anaheim police dog handler has piled up with hundreds of cards, donations and presents for the German Shepherd Bruno, who was injured in the line of duty last month.

The Orange County Register reports that Anaheim Police Officer R.J. Young'sliving room has filled with letters from pet pen pals, plush toys and treats like a mammoth bone for his K-9 partner.

Bruno was seriously wounded on March 20 after a suspect fired on probation officers and fled. When Bruno found the suspect and was shot at twice. Police then fatally shot the suspect.

A bullet shattered Bruno's jaw and lodged in his chest. Bruno's undergone multiple surgeries since and is still recovering.

Thousands have taken to social media to express sympathy and support.
