Has it really been ten years since “A Moment Like This”? Yup, it’s been a full decade since Ryan Seacrest (or was it Brian Dunkleman back in those days?) declared Kelly Clarkson the winner over Justin Guarini in American Idol‘s premiere season, and ten years (and eight digits’ worth of records sold) is apparently long enough for Kelly Clarkson to close the book on this chapter of her career.
Thus, the release of Greatest Hits — Chapter 1, Kelly’s first-ever Best-Of album, out November 19th. The set will be led by the new single “Catch My Breath,” released digitally on October 16th, and while the new-track-on-a-greatest-hit release used to be just a token throw-in, the release of Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” has raised the bar for the medium in a big way. Kelly writes on her website of her upcoming single:
This song represents who I’ve been, what I’ve felt, and where I’m headed as not only an artist but as a 30 year old that is now smart enough to know that it’s time to stop, catch my breath, and be proud of not only what has been accomplished but of all the people that have helped me become the woman I am today.
Sure, Kells, take a breather. Don’t pause too long before Chapter Two, though. Life would suck without you.
